years now. Since childhood she has had a passion for singing, dancing, modeling, and performing arts. She began her experience in dancing at the age of 5 as a ballerina at Joe Micheals Dance Studio and continued ballet for 8 years thereafter. In middle school Aiza was a member of the liturgical dance team and in high school at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, she was a member of the nationally acclaimed choir, which is known for being the choir Gloria Estefan began her singing career in, Lourdes Singers. Shortly after graduating high school in 2000, at the age of 18 Aiza was invited to sing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York for our then Mayor Alex Penelas.
Her modeling and desire to be on stage made her one of the finalists for both the 2003 Miss Carnivale Miami Pageant and the 2004 Miss Hispanidad Pageant. In 2004 she was
also chosen to be one of the members of the first Marlins Mermaids Dancers for the Florida Marlins baseball team, but later declined. At the same time Aiza was invited to model for Bebe, Inc. in their semi-annual premier fashion shows from 2002 until today, and for the annual IIDA Design Mix which were held at Nikki Beach, Raleigh Hotel, and currently Vizcaya beginning in 2001.
She began her experience of Middle Eastern Dance in 2000 and has come to acquire knowledge, technique, and culture of the dance through her instructor Samay. She has studied with several Egyptian artists and instructors such as Raqia Hassan, Oracio and Beata, Mahomoud Reda, Yousry and Nourhanne Sharif, Amir Thaleb, Tamalyn Dallal, Virginia, Hannan, Bozenka, and many more. Just after 4 months of belly dance instruction she became part of the internationally renowned, Samay wa Ishtah Dance Company. Aiza has had the privilege to open, as a member of Ishtah, for concerts featuring the famous singer Shireen and for such events as Univision’s El Clon grand finally gala in Walt Disney World Orlando. She has been seen at Joharah’s International Hafla yearly since 2001, and performed for Raquia Hassan at the Little Egypt Show in 2006. She has been invited to travel around the world to perform at several other venues and has currently been elected to be an Assistant Organizer and Ambassador for the 2008 Miami Bellydance Meetup.
She is now the proud founder, director, and choreographer of Ala Nar Dance Company alongside her partner Heather. Ala Nar Dance Company has been performing throughout the United States and was featured on Deco Drive for their performance at the 2007 IIDA Design Mix at Vizcaya. They have also performed in exclusive charity events. Ala Nar has become known for their elegance, technique, precision, and authentic representation of belly dance.
She is not only a professional belly dancer but also a college graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Florida International University School of Architecture. She is currently in the master’s program for Architectural studies at FIU. Her goal is to share the knowledge that she has obtained throughout the years to her students and others so they may pass it on with respect and reverence which is important in order to keep belly dance alive and authentic.
